My approach:

I am designated by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) as a Certified EMDR Therapist. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in the treatment of individuals who have experienced trauma. EMDR utilizes the Adaptive Information Processing model, which contends that symptoms of PTSD and other disorders result from past experiences that continue to cause distress because the memories were not adequately processed. EMDR uses a set of procedures to organize neural networks in the brain and uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, alternative tapping, etc.) as a catalyst to effectively integrate past experiences with present adaptive learning.
